Michael Paul
Since 2009, Michael Paul has roamed the West intimately connecting with its remote interior, its history, and its wild inhabitants. His photographic work epitomizes the romance of the American West and is enriched by knowledge of its complex past. Artistic influences include those that brought significant early 19th century imagery of the West to the world — Albert Bierstadt, Thomas Moran, William Henry Jackson, Carleton Watkins, and other contemporaries. As a photographer, Michael’s work has appeared in national publications, films by Ken Burns, and private collections around the country. As an author of Western history, he has appeared in notable academic publications such as the Wild West History Association Journal and the University of North Texas Press.
